checking off the list
Do you ever have one of those days where you are super productive? Well, those days seem to be few and far between for me, but today I was so productive. Tomorrow we are going to south Georgia for the holiday, and along with that comes a long to-do list. Along with packing for myself and the girls, I got the oil changed, washed and vacuumed the car, returned DVDs to the library, went to the Post Office, got gas, picked up a few items at the store, cleaned the house, did six loads of laundry, fixed dinner, gave both girls baths, and took Ansley to the new park to blow off some steam. I have to say, I am quite proud of myself! All of that and no melt downs in public. I thought I HAD to commemorate this day with a blog post! ha.

happy 4 months, Emerson!
Sweet girl, yet another month has flown by! Your personality is starting to shine through more each day. Like I’ve said a million times already, you are the sweetest and happiest baby!

Here’s what you’ve been up to this month:
Here’s what you’ve been up to this month:
- You weigh 14 pounds 12 ounces (50-75%) and are 26 inches long (90-95%). You have a super long torso and short little legs.
- You wear a size 2 diaper and are in 3-6 month clothes.
- You are still nursing like a champ, about 5 times a day, and we started rice cereal just a few days ago. You did really well with it when you weren’t smiling big grins at me.
- You starting rolling over right before you turned 3 months old, but you still only roll to one side (your right) and you still can’t roll from your stomach to your back.
- You are trying to sit up out of your bouncy seat or anything that you are laying on. You can’t sit up on your own quite yet but you are on your way!
- You are doing so well in your PT! You can hold your head in midline and can almost turn your head to where your chin is on your right shoulder. This is HUGE! Your therapist is so pleased with your progress that she cut you down to one day a week. You still don’t like to go and get whiny when you get on the mat, but your sister LOVES going (because she can jump on the trampoline).
- You love to sleep on your tummy and suck your thumb. You get very frustrated when you are playing on your stomach and can’t roll over, but you just stick your thumb in your mouth and drift to sleep. You never stay angry for long, you just make the best of the situation.
- You LOVE your sister! You will strain your neck to see what she is up to.
- You don’t talk much during the day, but when your sister is gone you talk up a storm!!
- You kick your legs like crazy when you are on your back.
- You just got cleared by the cardiologist! You no longer have a hole in your heart and you never have to go back to the cardiologist!! We are so blessed and thankful to God for answering our prayers.

count to 10
Ansley has been able to count to 10 for a few weeks now, and we keep saying that we need to get it on video. Well, just like when you hear a noise in your car and it stops when you take to the shop, she did not do that well when we brought the camera out. So, how do you get your toddler to do what you want? You bribe them with marshmallows, duh. After being silly she finally complies and counts to 10. Enjoy!

one year ago today…
Exactly one year ago today I found out that this little love muffin was baking in my belly.

I was so excited when I saw the “+” on that little plastic stick. I thought for sure that we would be trying for another month. That week, I was very eager to find out if I was expecting. Freddy and I had just come back from a little trip up to Asheville. I was starving ALL.THE.TIME. We ate at this one restaurant twice, and the lady remembered us! ha. Because of this I was really hoping that it was due to the fact that I was preggers. I took a test when we got home and it said that it was negative, but I was hoping that it was wrong (I took it way early). A few days later, I decided to try again. I took the test on Sunday morning before church, which of course we were running late for. I didn’t wait the whole time and was getting impatient, so when I didn’t see anything I just threw it back in the box. The next day, I took the last test out of the box and thought I would just try for kicks and giggles. Turns out it was positive! I did a happy dance in my bathroom and pulled out the other test in the box that I took the day before. On that test there was a faint “+”, if I had waited patiently I would’ve known the day before! Ansley surprised her daddy that night with a card that read, “Daddy, I’m a big sister!” We were all so excited!!
Emmy, we are beyond excited to have you here with us! I never would have thought a year ago, that I would have TWO wonderful daughters. Let alone, the best baby EVER!! We love you so so much little girl!

mr. happy
Every year for the past few years, we have had such good intentions on the pumpkin front. I always swoon over pictures of babies dressed up in their Fall attire plopped right in the middle of a pumpkin patch. I always intended on getting those pictures of my own little ones, but life always gets in the way. Needless to say, another year went by without a picture in the pumpkin patch. So sad. But, we did get a pumpkin to carve. We may have gotten one of the very last pumpkins at Publix, but hey a pumpkin is a pumpkin, right?

Ansley kept insisting that we should give the pumpkin a sad face, but after a little time she changed her mind as she always does, and we gave the pumpkin a happy face. She was beyond excited to gut the pumpkin. She used a big spoon and her little hand, and managed to get almost all of the seeds out by herself. While Freddy and I were carving, she was having a ball while playing with the pumpkin guts. She would pile all of the stringy things(for lack of the correct term) and ask if we were hungry for “sketti”. She would pile them up and when they were to her liking she would say “perfect”!

When the pumpkin was all carved we asked her what she wanted to name him and she enthusiastically replied, “MR. HAPPY!” While the quintessential pictures in the patch were missing, memories were indeed made!

like father, like daughter
It finally hit me yesterday, when looking at sweet Emerson in her leopard costume, that she looks just like her daddy when he was a baby. You tell me:
The one in the top right corner is a dead ringer for Emmy!
