happy halloween!

This was our first Halloween with both of  our little trick-or-treaters! I absolutely love Halloween: getting the girls all dressed up, getting all the candy, and seeing all the trick-or-treaters at the door! Ansley was, of course, a princess and Emerson was a pink leopard(which was a repeater).  Both of them were too cute for words!

Ansley was so excited to be a fairy princess that she didn’t want to eat her dinner.  She only ate after we told her if she didn’t then she couldn’t go trick-or-treating.  She scarfed down dinner and we quickly got down to the business of getting all pretty and princess-i-fied. She looked in her mirror and said, “I preettyy”.  After a few quick pictures with sissy we were on our way!

Instead of saying thank you, she kept saying your welcome.  She was such a hoot picking out the candy in the bowl.  At one house she picked out all of the sweet tarts, and when I asked her to say thank you she said, “I need more.”  We went to the back of our neighborhood, where all of the action happens. Emerson and I went to a few houses then headed back so that she could eat and go to bed.  Freddy said that Ansley got very scared of some kids with scary masks so they headed back home rather quickly.

When they got back, Ansley and I hit up a few more houses and then checked out her loot.  She had about 6 pieces of candy and then asked to go night night.  I guess she wore herself out!

happy 3 months, Emerson! (2 weeks late)

Sweet baby girl you are 3 months old! Once again, I don’t know where the time has gone! You are growing up so fast so I am trying to soak up every spare second I have with you.

What you’ve been up to this month:
  • You are wearing 3-6 months clothing. You are very long and lean.
  • You wear a size 2 diaper.
  • You just started transitioning to a 4 hour schedule during the day, which has been a huge blessing to me.  It is so much easier to feed you 4 times a day vs. 6 times.
  • You are still an excellent little eater!
  • You have been kind of teetering in your sleeping schedule. Some nights you sleep 10 hours other nights you get up about 3 times.  It varies from night to night lately, but honestly I really don’t mind getting up with you.  You will eat for 5 minutes and go back to sleep so it is not too bad.
  • You smile ALL the time! Especially at me, you just light up when you see me.  It melts my heart every time.  You are SUCH a momma’s girl!
  • You have just started to giggle, and it sounds just like your sister’s laugh when she was a baby.
  • You adore your big sister.  You study her every move and smile at her all the time.
  • We found out this month that you have something called Torticollis. It basically means your neck stays to the side because the muscle on one side is tight.  Dr. Jones said you probably got stuck in my womb and didn’t move much.  You are now going to PT twice a week and you are doing exceptional! The PT is very impressed because you can now hold your head straight up while sitting.
  • You are just the happiest baby and I can’t imagine our lives with out you!!

barefoot in the park

A few weeks ago, the weather was nothing short of amazing! I read a quote somewhere that said something to the extent of, “fall is a southerner’s reward for surviving the hot summer” and nothing could be closer to the truth! Especially this past summer.  Of course being 9 months pregnant never helps in the heat department anyway.  (Maybe I deserve a medal for that. ha) So, we decided to take advantage of the glorious weather and have a picnic at our local park one Friday evening.  We all agreed that it would be a repeat outing!

Trying to hurry up and eat so that she can play on the playground (which is in her line of sight).

Emmy and I were hanging out and snuggling while Ansley and Daddy put on a little performance on the stage of the amphitheater.  The performance included some twirling, booty shaking and bowing (all done by the little one…I don’t think Daddy would be caught dead doing those things in public much less on a stage).
