This past week I have been reading a fabulous book that my friend Ashley gave to me. It is called a Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers. It is about 5 women that were Jesus' ancestors, and how they were unlikely women to change history. They had huge challenges but faced them with ALL of their faith in the Lord, and they prevailed. It allowed me to look at myself and realize how I trust my plan more than His, and how I need to put all of my faith in Him for He knows what my plan is. It was also reassuring to know that God picked these women who were sinners and not perfect by any means, but He found them worthy of wonderful things. I feel like that a lot of the time, that I am so unworthy of His grace and blessings, but that just makes me appreciate them even more. I am trying to lean on God more and trust that He has the best planned for me. It is funny because every time I plan something, I feel like God laughs and says, "yeah right, I don't think so"! But, in all those times that He has thrown me off my plan, He puts me back on track and everything seems to fall into place and is easy. One of the best of His plans thus far is my angel Ansley. She was definitely not on my plan, but it just goes to show that I don't know what I am doing and He does! I would not trade her for my old plan for anything in the world. Needless to say, the book really got me thinking, and you should check it out if you are looking for a book to read....you won't be able to put it down!!

Tomorrow is supposed to be really nasty here, so we will most likely stay in for the day. That means that I will post lots of pictures that we took this week. I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!!

back on the organic bandwagon

So, after a weekend-run-in with an entire package of oreos, I am back on the organic train. I am a comfort eater (which is obvious after the 75 lbs gained during pregnancy). I was having a rough weekend ,the postpartum depression rearing its ugly head, so I talked my wonderful hubby into getting me some oreos. Well, I started on Saturday night and ate ALL of them by Sunday afternoon. Holy oreos batman!! While they were scrumptious at first, I can now no longer think of those fabulous black and white cookies without getting somewhat queezy. Today is our grocery store day so I decided to start the week off on a good note. Ansley and I stayed in the organic section and on the outer edges of the grocery store(which is where I shopped pre-Ansley). I started to pick out all the things that I used to eat like: organic salad, spinach, aspargus, kashi, etc. We even bought Ansley some organic peas and carrots, which are to come at the end of the week! Yay solids!! Anyway, I am hoping to cleanse myself of the oreos and start anew with what God put on this earth, not Nabisco. So far I have dropped 50 lbs and I need to stay on track to get the remainding 25 off. One of my new year's resolutions was to eat whole foods and not as many processed foods. It is amazing how difficult that is in our processed world, and it is a completely new way to think. Minus the oreo instance I was doing well and enjoying it, so I need to stay focused (which can be hard for me considering I have severe ADD). Enough of my rambling....baby girl is about to get up from her nap. On the menu tonight: Tilapia, asparagus and brown rice....yummy!!

This weekend we went to a wedding for my friend Laura. We met through Phi Mu, and I just love her to pieces. She is so sweet and we had the best time at her beautiful wedding. We got to see lots of great friends that we miss so much. Jean and Jess, two of my great and beautiful friends, were in the wedding and they were razzing me for not updating the blog, so girls this is for you!

a month in pictures

I know I haven't been posting a lot lately, and it has been a long time since I have posted pictures. Well, I will make up for that all in one post. So here goes...


A visit from Nana, G-Pop, Aunt Louise and Uncle Larry. They came down for the day to see the little princess the second week in January.


Baby girl has been busy this month doing lots of new things. Like rolling over continuously, not just once. She is a rollin' fool!! She has also learned how to pull her paci out and then stick in back in her mouth! She is so smart!!
She tried to cheer on her yellow jackets in the Orange Bowl, but I guess she didn't cheer hard enough because they lost. BOO!! :(

This stuffed reindeer is pretty funny, we thought it was the perfect size for her and she loved it! Also my aunt and uncle's dog, Blue, loved to attack it too...it was hilarious!!!

My dad came up to visit a few days before Christmas, and he brought lots of gifts for his favorite girl, including this cute little pelican.

First time eating rice cereal. At first she liked it, attacking the spoon and eating ALL of it. Well, now she has decided she does not like it at all! These are pictures before, during and after the first meal of cereal.

where does the time go?

So I have been very absent from my blog for almost a month, but with good reason. My hubby was off for 2 weeks before and after Christmas, so we were really enjoying quality family time together. Then, add on Christmas, New Year's and baby girl getting sick for over a week and we were BUSY!!

As far as Christmas goes, we were so blessed with the best gift of all this year: our little girl Ansley!! Christmas seems so much more magical when you have a child. It was so great to see the rest of our family light up because she was there. We can't wait for all of the Christmases to come!!

My mom came down to visit during New Year's, and she babysat so that we could go out on a date night. It was so great!! It is so nice to reconnect as a couple. It was a great way to start off the new year as a married couple.
