this weekend...

This weekend we made a trip to Atlanta.  Our first stop was to drop the girls at Gigi's.  Freddy and I then spent the day child-less.  As much as we love our girls, it was so nice to do things just as a married couple.  Being the wonderful husband that he is, Freddy agreed to a trip to Ikea.  He didn't complain once as I circled the showroom twice, asked his opinions on infinite things that I know he doesn't care about, and loaded and unloaded the car of my haul.

That night we went to celebrate my friend Jessica's birthday.  Also there was my great friend Laura. We all met, what seems like forever ago, through Phi Mu.  They are such amazing friends and I miss them like CRAZY!! We have all spread out across the country and don't get to see each other as often as I would like.  We had such a great time catching up.  I also got to hold Jessica's sweet little girl, and spoil her with too many puffs and beans(sorry Kevin).  It was so nice to sit outside by their fireplace and talk entirely too long!

 Then on Sunday we got to meet the newest addition to our family, Cardyn Grace.  Oh. My. Gosh. She is such a cutie, and I hogged her for a very long time.  It is amazing how quickly you forget the new baby smell, their sweet noises, and their amazing cuddles. We are so happy for my cousin Brandon and his wife Shirlanne! After the newborn love fest we headed back home to put some worn out girls to bed and got ready for the week ahead.

Churro

Nothing like a Costco churro to set everything right in the world. These things are so delicious that they prompt sibling sharing! That is quite the accomplishment in Stokes-munchkin-land. Thanks you, dear churro, for allowing me to shop sans whining.

Saddest pledge of allegiance ever

We discovered on Sunday, after unpacking a small flag, that Ansley could recite the pledge of allegiance. So what better time to get it on tape than in the Dairy Queen drive thru? Being the awesome parents we are, we told Ansley to say it before we gave her the ice cream. I know, I know parents of the year. Out of our awesome parenting skills comes the best/saddest pledge of allegiance ever.

So this weekend I got berated  encouraged to update the blog with more frequency.  I know that I have been quite the slacker on this front, so I will be updating regularly.  I have a lot to catch up on so I will do a mix of current happenings as well as old ones.

On Friday I was a chaperone for Ansley's preschool class field trip. We went to a local dairy farm and had a blast.  The best part of the whole day was the playground/jumping pillow/slide.  The second we got there the kids asked two things: "when can we play" and "when do we eat".  Both of which we did at the very end.  So after patiently waiting 3 hours, we all let loose. Ansley said that jumping with Mommy was her favorite thing that day.  While we did enjoy the hay ride, petting zoo, riveting demonstration on how to make butter and watching a cow get milked. I had to agree, the jumping was my favorite part too.
